A little bit about myself!

Hello! My name is Paige Davis, and I am a freshman at the University of Tampa. This blog is meant to demonstrate some of the work I have done throughout my first semester here in the FMX 210 Digital Media course. I currently am a Communications and Media Studies major with an ultimate goal to become a practicing civil rights attorney. The skills we learned in this course will help me adapt to the changing world of law and justice as technology and digitalization are becoming more prevalent in the courtroom.

My first feelings in this class consisted of much uncertainty. I am a writer at heart and had never really touched any of the software we worked with these past few months. Upon even reading the syllabus of what the class would entail, I was fearful. There were doubts that I would even be capable of working with these tools and completing the projects. However, I knew that in my career this course would be necessary. Communications and law go beyond just the basics of writing and reading, which calls for more versatility.  You must be well rounded with design skills, and the ability to use the platforms we worked with.

From everything we have learned I now feel what I expected to gain has been fulfilled, even if I had uncertainties about my ability to get there. I believe I have a greater understanding of the technology we worked with, a creative mindset when it comes to advertisement and visual media, and even have gained knowledge around the basics of sound and animation. These skills will translate into wherever my career takes me, and I am very happy with how I am now leaving this course.
